Nestled alongside the Waikato river Tuakau is the gateway to the Waikato once you leave Auckland City
Tuakau is a small town located near the Southern Motorway, between Auckland and Hamilton, in the Waikato.
Surrounding areas include; Pukekohe, Buckland, Puni, Te Kohanga, Onewhero, Pukekawa, Pokeno, Mercer and Whangarata.
Tuakau is a vibrant and growing community which services over 15,000 people -
Including a large catchment area, from Miranda and Kaiaua through to Port Waikato and Nike.
Tuakau is still close to larger centres such as Pukekohe and is only 10 minutes off the motorway, yet has large range of businesses (which is growing all the time) - and better parking!
The strategic plan sets out TDDA’s vision for Tuakau:
A great place to live, work, learn, play, spend and invest
The strategic plan also expresses TDDA’s mission:
To create and sustain a strong economic foundation for the community of Tuakau and districts
This year, we have chosen to focus on the following projects:
1. Whangarata business land development
2. Tuakau railway station
3. Town centre physical development
4. Business improvement
5. Security and graffiti
